How it works

How Long's The Wait? is built for fast-moving ground information.

It favours recent, practical updates over permanent posts.

View the map

Anyone can open the map and see live public reports nearby.

Reports show what was seen, where it was seen and when it was last updated.

Submit a report

Signed-in users can submit a report in seconds.

A report can include:

  • Location
  • Category
  • Wait time
  • Availability status
  • Short note
  • Photo or short proof media where useful

Confirm what is still accurate

Other users can tap "Still accurate" if the report remains true.

Recent confirmations help increase confidence.

Update what has changed

If the situation has changed, users can update or correct the report rather than silently editing the original.

This keeps the timeline accountable.

Dispute inaccurate reports

If a report is wrong, misleading or no longer useful, users can dispute it.

Reports with more disputes than confirmations can be downgraded.

Stale reports are marked

Reports are designed to expire because ground conditions change quickly.

If a report is not refreshed, it drops in confidence and is marked as stale.

Proof media is temporary

Photos and videos can help people understand what is happening, but media is not kept forever by default.

Short video clips may be kept for around 24 hours. Photos may be kept for around 48 hours. Expired media is removed from public report cards unless moderation requires a different action.

Managed pages

Organisations can create managed pages for planned events, venues, launches, public information points or high-footfall locations.

These pages can show official updates, wait times, countdowns, capacity information and QR codes.

Managed pages are labelled clearly and kept separate from emergency community reports.
